Costa Rica celebrates 5 years of esports

Costa Rica 2 Today the Costa Rican esports League launched the 2018 Winter Season of its national esports competition, “Liga Tica de Leyendas”(known as the LTL). This iteration will be the 10th edition of the tournament and also marks the 5th anniversary of the Costa Rican esports League organization. Costa Rica 3 With the launch of the 2018 Winter Season, the tournament thus becomes the longest running national esports League in Latin America. What started in 2013 as a proof of concept tournament with just a handful of team, has become the premier esports competition and brand in the country, gathering over 800 players per season. The 10th edition of Liga Tica de Leyendas will run until mid-December and will include the subsidiary tournaments of “Circuito de Invocadores” and “Torneos Doble A”, as well as launching new competitions for the recent fan favorite Fortnite and licensing third party tournaments for other games such as Rocket League to be executed under its brand. The live broadcast of the tournament can be followed weekly through the LTL twitch channel. Costa Rica 4 Aside from the regular scheduled events during the winter season (Winter Season Finals and World Viewing Party among others), the Costa Rican esports League is planning to host an anniversary celebration in December, after the season is done, to commemorate its 5 years of existence. Costa Rica 5 During its five years of existence, the Costa Rican esports League organization has used the “Liga Tica de Leyendas” brand and tournament to promote esports growth, regulation and officialization in the country and the region, garnering numerous achievements along the way, such as: Opening the first esports broadcasting studio in Central America, becoming the first American country to attend an IeSF World Championship, having over 3,000 esports players participate in its tournaments and attending 2 World Championships (Soon to be 3 with the upcoming attendance to the Kaohsiung World Championship in November)
